Sean Connery wears Cool-Ray Polaroid N135 sunglasses in the 1965 movie Thunderball.

It is believed that James Bond (Sean Connery) wears Cool-Ray Polaroid N135 sunglasses in the 1965 movie Thunderball.

James Bond wears the black Cool-Ray Polaroid N13 "styled by Cari Michell" sunglasses when he is at the beach in the Bahamas with Domino (Claudine Auger).

The sunglasses are a black Wayfarer model with two rivets on each side and front of the temples.

You can sometimes find these vintage sunglasses on eBay.

2025 Reissue

Cool-Ray glasses are once again available in 2025, via the Ocularium website. Created in collaboration with Anthony Sinclair to celebrate 60 years of the movie Thunderball. These glasses are identical to the original Cool-Ray glasses, but are much higher quality and less fragile than a vintage pair of Cool-Ray's. I have both and can recommend these.

Tom Ford SnowdonIf you want another, similar pair that's also worn by James Bond, then a good option are the Tom Ford Snowdon seen in SPECTRE. These have a similar low-profile wayfarer-style look (read more), but instead of the rivets it has the Tom Ford T logo on the hinge. The Snowdons have been popular ever since they appeared in the film.

Complete the look

Bond wears a Pink Gingham Check short sleeve shirt, pink Jantzen shorts and his Rolex Submariner on nylon strap.

James Bond also wears similar sunglasses in From Russia With Love, in Istanbul when he enters the Hagia Sofia.
