Riz Ahmed auditions for James Bond in new Amazon series

James Bond plays a central role in the opening of Bait, a new Prime Video television series created by and starring Riz Ahmed.

The show begins with Ahmed’s character auditioning for the role of James Bond, an audition that goes badly and ends in clear rejection. Despite the failed screen test, a photograph taken outside the audition location is misinterpreted online, triggering widespread speculation that he could be the next Bond.

The unexpected attention places the character at the centre of a media storm, fuelled entirely by the enduring fascination surrounding the 007 role.

The six-episode series follows the consequences of this false Bond narrative, exploring how sudden fame, online reaction, and public expectations impact an actor’s personal and professional life.
