Daniel Craig’s 1959 Land Rover Series II sells for $56,000

A 1959 Land Rover 109 Series II formerly owned by Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz has sold for $56,000 on Bring a Trailer.

The classic British 4x4 was offered through the online auction platform in August 2026, attracting 35 bids before the auction closed on August 27. The listing received more than 17,800 views and was watched by over 1,350 Bring a Trailer users.

While this particular Land Rover has no connection to the James Bond films, its former ownership by Daniel Craig gives it an interesting piece of off-screen 007 provenance.

Perhaps the most appealing part of the sale is the documentation accompanying the Land Rover.

Included with the vehicle is a portrait signed by Daniel Craig as well as a handwritten note from Craig and his wife Rachel Weisz confirming their ownership of the vehicle.

In the note, the couple describe the Land Rover as theirs and say they are selling it “with great sadness,” before asking the new owner to take care of it. Interestingly, the note refers to the vehicle as a “Land Rover Defender,” although the auction correctly identifies it as a 1959 Land Rover 109 Series II.

Craig and Weisz have been married since 2011.

1959 Land Rover 109 Series II

The long-wheelbase Land Rover has a 109-inch wheelbase and is finished in traditional Bronze Green.

It features many of the rugged details associated with early Land Rovers, including a bonnet-mounted spare wheel, rope winch, fender-mounted mirrors, side steps and body-coloured 16-inch three-piece steel wheels. An Exmoor Trim canvas cover has also been fitted over the rear load bed, while a horseshoe is mounted on the front grille.

Inside, the simple three-seat cabin has been retrimmed in tan vinyl. Equipment includes sliding windows, dashboard ventilation and three-point seatbelts for the two outside seats.

The dashboard remains suitably basic, with a large Jaeger 75-mph speedometer alongside a combined fuel gauge and ammeter. The odometer currently shows approximately 3,800 miles, although the seller states that this figure is not accurate and the Land Rover’s actual chassis mileage is unknown.

Power comes from a 2.25-litre inline four-cylinder engine, which was originally rated at 77 horsepower and 124 lb-ft of torque.

The engine has recently received a Carter carburettor and electronic ignition system, while the generator and several engine seals were also replaced. The removed Solex carburettor and original ignition components were included with the vehicle.

A four-speed manual transmission sends power through a dual-range transfer case to either the rear wheels or all four wheels. The Land Rover is also fitted with a floor-operated RoverDrive overdrive system, while the leaf springs were recently rebuilt.

The Daniel Craig connection clearly helped attract attention to the auction. After 35 bids, the Land Rover sold for $56,000 on August 27, 2026.
