Cumbria Crystal Windermere Double Old Fashioned Tumbler
In The World Is Not Enough (1999), Pierce Brosnan as James Bond uses a Cumbria Crystal Windermere Double Old Fashioned Tumbler.
The tumbler can be seen prominently in the pre-title sequence at the MI6 office when Bond visits M (Judi Dench) in her office. She pours him and herself a drink in two whisky tumblers. They both start to drink from the glass. But when the ice cubes in Bond's drink start to foam, Bond suddenly realises that Robert King is in danger and he runs off trying to save King.
During this short scene, the glass gets a lot of screentime.
The glass is a Cumbria Crystal 12oz Windermere Double Old Fashioned (DOF) Whisky Tumbler - a larger sized glass suitable for spirits with, or without, mixers and ice. A smaller version of the same model also exists.
Available for £110 / $145 at Cumbria Crystal.
Since all Cumbria Crystal's products are handmade by a small team of artisans, they do not hold large quantities of stock. This particular Windermere model is one of the hardest glasses to create for the Premium Quality collection, so delivery times may vary and delivery before Christmas is not guyaranteed.
Cumbria Crystal is the last independent British maker of luxury handblown, handcut lead crystal in Britain. Cumbria Crystal collections have featured in many films and TV series, most notably the Grasmere collection which featured prominently in the Downton Abbey series.
Cumbria Crystal in other Bond films
In Die Another Day (2002) we can spot a Cumbria Crystal Helvellyn DOF tumbler on the desk of James Bond (Pierce Brosnan).
Cumbria Crystal was once again used by James Bond (Daniel Craig) in Casino Royale (2006), when he drinks from a Cumbria Crystal Grasmere Double Old Fashioned Tumbler.
