About Concorde
The Aérospatiale/BAC Concorde is a Franco-British turbojet-powered supersonic airliner that was operated from 1976 until 2003 by Air France and British Airways. The Concorde had a maximum speed over twice the speed of sound, at Mach 2.04 (1,354 mph or 2,180 km/h).
The Concorde is one of only two supersonic jetliner models to operate commercially (the other is the Soviet-built Tupolev Tu-144, which operated in the late 1970s).
The Rolls-Royce Olympus 593 engine that allowed the Concorde to break the sound barrier is based on the engines employed in the RAF's Avro Vulcan strategic bomber. The Vulcan bomber plays a vital part in the James Bond movie Thunderball when it is hijacked by SPECTRE.

And today, AM Bristol's state-of-the-art workshop looks out over the old runway, which is now home to Aerospace Bristol, Concorde’s final resting place (visit the website aerospacebristol.org for more about this location).
