Octopussy Silk Robe by MENG
Octopussy (Maud Adams) wears a silk robe in the 1983 film Octopussy.
A recreation of the iconic silk robe was released in July 2020 by MENG, offered exclusively on the 007 Store.
Just seven robes were exclusively for the 007 Store following the original design in the Bond Archive.
Each robe is handmade in the finest 84gsm silk satin, the robe has full kimono sleeves, a wrap front, printed back and a plain silk satin self-tie sash belt at the waist. Beautifully cut from unlined ivory silk satin, the robe is decorated with a recreation of the original Octopussy octopus symbol, recreated in painterly tones of blue, tan and gold. The design is drawn and printed in the UK. Each MENG design goes through rigorous checks at each stage of production to ensure every element of the cut, stitching, design placement and finishing is of the highest quality. Presented in a MENG rigid box, with a numbered certificate of authenticity from Eon Productions.
First Edition size: Length 132 cm
The robe was priced £950 / $1200, and the seven pieces sold out immediately.

Second Edition
In September 2020, a mid-length version of the MENG Octopussy robe was made available for pre-order on the 007 Store.
This second edition is shorter than the first edition, therefor not as screen-accurate as the first edition, but at £750, the robe is more affordable and with 107 pieces made, easier to acquire than the first edition.

About the original movie robe
The octopus artwork was created by Maciek Piotrowski and appears in the film Octopussy on hand tattoos, barge flags, and on Octopussy's silk robe. For this the costume team customised a plain gown by commissioning a local Udaipur artist to hand paint straight onto the silk.
In the film, the robe is worn by Octopussy (Maud Adams) in the Octopalace, an exotic Indian residence which is home to her women-only sisterhood.
