Lock & Co. The James Trilby - Dr. No Edition
Lock & Co. The James Trilby - Dr. No Edition is a new edition of the Lock & Co. hat worn in the very first gun barrel scene from Dr. No (1962).
The hat is part of the 007 x Lock & Co. limited edition collection, released in October 2022 to celebrate 60 Years Of Bond. The 60th collection features designs that are inspired by the past and present, referencing archive hats from the James Bond series.
The Dr. No Tribly is crafted from pure Escorial wool felt and made on the same block as the Dr. No original.
Note that is NOT the hat worn by Sean Connery in the film: Connery wore the Sandown Tribly model.
The design has a self-colour grosgrain band and is fully lined in black satin. The hat is not 100% the same as the original, but according to Lock & Co, the hat is updated for the 21st century.
The particularly fine quality of wool comes from a rare sheep breed founded by King Philip II of Spain in 1584. Escorial is a luxurious wool, which today can only be found in small numbers in Australia and New Zealand. The Escorial fibre is like a curled spring and when stretched throughout the production processes, returns to the original curled state. It is this characteristic that makes Escorial hats lightweight and resilient.
The hat comes in a signature black and gold 007 x Lock & Co. hat box.
Available at the Lock & Co. store in London, or online at Lock & Co. or at the 007Store for £695.
