James Bond's Villa La Gaeta: Luxury Apartment on the Estate offered for sale

A rare opportunity has emerged to own a piece of Bond real estate. A luxury apartment has been listed for sale on the grounds of Villa La Gaeta, the Lake Como villa made famous by its appearance in the closing scene of Casino Royale (2006).

While the apartment is not located inside the main villa itself, it occupies one of the estate's historic side buildings, known as the south-facing dépendance. The building forms part of the gated Villa La Gaeta estate, which today has been divided into a number of private luxury residences.

Villa La Gaeta became a Bond landmark when it was used in the film's memorable final scene. Bond confronts Mr. White outside the villa before delivering the iconic line: "Bond. James Bond."

Although Villa La Gaeta is now a private gated residence and is generally closed to the public, Bond fans can still experience the famous location by staying in one of the holiday rental apartments on the estate. The villa is also a popular sight on boat tours along the western shore of Lake Como.

The apartment

The apartment was extensively renovated in 2023 while retaining the character of the historic property. Villa La Gaeta itself dates from the early 20th century and was designed in an eclectic Neo-Medieval style by the renowned Coppedè architects.

Spread over two levels, the apartment includes a living room opening onto a panoramic terrace overlooking Lake Como, a fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and an additional room that can be used as a study or walk-in wardrobe. 

The lower level opens directly onto the estate's marina basin.

The property also includes two parking spaces, two storage cellars, a private boat mooring, and access to the residents-only jetty. Owners also have access to the estate's landscaped park, private beach and shared swimming pool.
