James Bond boat for sale
Antique Boat America and the Antique Boat Museum are proud to announce that a fully restored 1978 Glastron Carlson 23 foot will be offered for sale at the 47th Clayton Annual Boat Show and Auction on Saturday August 6th, 2011. Bond Lifestyle reported on this boat last year (read article).
The boat is the same model as seen in the 1979 James Bond Classic movie Moonraker. In that movie, James Bond is chased while driving a Glastron / Carlson CV23HT boat through the Amazon River. Only 300 of these boats were ever built, and ONLY 3 of those were built with the custom painted silver metalflake gelcoat over gray. Today ONLY 1 of these boats is known to exist and is currently owned by the Ian Fleming Foundation.
"Moonraker II" has undergone a comprehensive, better than factory restoration with all new or remanufactured items. This includes a 5.7 Vortec engine with only 4 hours on the engine for sea trials. It also has new risers and exhaust, new gauges, new correct custom paint, new custom interior, new stringers and flooring and a new waterproof engine hatch preventing any water intrusion. The package also includes a refurbished original Glastron dual axle trailer with new paint, new tires, bearings, bunks and lights.
The vessel is not an exact copy as the "Bond" gadgets made this boat user unfriendly. The boat is absolutely turnkey and has been sea trialed at 58 MPH. Included with this sale will be numerous items of memorabilia from the "Moonraker" movie including authentic Roger Moore autographed photos, a script copy, and posters. Clear titles will be provided at the time of the Auction for the boat and the trailer as well as a full documentation with receipts of the restoration.
"Everyone is a Bond fan and we are very pleased to be able to offer "Moonraker II" at this summer's auction" said Peter Mellon, President of Antique Boat America. The Auction is a key part of the 47th Clayton Annual Boat Show and the Auction will commence at 1pm on Saturday August 6th, 2011.
More information about the Auction can be obtained by visiting www.antiqueboatamerica.com or by calling 800-675-4089.
