Goldeneye 007 Limpet Mine

First deployed in GoldenEye (1995), the limpet mine became a fan favorite in the film and video game. 

Pierce Brosnan as James Bond uses green mines with red lights in the movie GoldenEye to destroy the Antenna Satellite (at the Arecibo Observatory, Puerto Rico) at the end of the film.

The mines can be detonated or deactivated remotely by Bond's Omega Seamaster 300M, but Alec Trevelyan knows this and deactivates the mines by pressing the helium valve button. Bond still blows up the place using the Parker Jotter explosive pen.

In the iconic Nintendo 64 game GoldenEye 007 (1997), the mine got a second life as one of the more popular weapons. 

Prop

The original mine prop for the film was actually made from the base of a joystick available at the time. The exact model is the "Saitek MegaGrip" joystick. The same model was also sold as the "PC Commander Plus SV-207A".

Factory Entertainment Replica

In 2026, Factory Entertainment released the first official prop replica of the GoldenEye James Bond Magnetic Limpet Mine.

The mine replica is numbered and limited to 500, and has been recreated with meticulous attention to detail, using digital scans of an original prop mine from the 007 Archive. Note that each Factory Entertainment replica is NOT made from an original joystick.

The replica features screen-accurate audio via a miniature piezoelectric speaker and a cycling LED sequence. Crafted from ABS plastic and resin with concealed integrated magnets allowing it to cling to a ferromagnetic surface, each mine comes in a wooden display box with a certificate of authenticity and an individually numbered metal plaque.
