Sam Smith's music video for SPECTRE theme song Writing's On The Wall

05 October, 2015

Sam Smith's music video for the SPECTRE theme song Writing's On The Wall has been released today, and it contains more unseen footage from the movie.

Watch the music video below (click on the small icon at the right bottom to watch it fullscreen).

We see Bond walking through a courtyard in London, through the snow in Austria, and later in the desert in Morocco.

The SPECTRE music video focusses mostly on James Bond (Daniel Craig) and Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux).

It seems from the scenes that the relationship between Madeleine Swann and James Bond will be a very interesting, emotional and complicated one.

We do see Bond make out with another Bond woman, Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci) in presumably a villa in Rome, and later Sciarra drinking a whisky or similar strong drink.

A nice aerial shot shows the clinic in Austria (filmed at the ICE Q restaurant and cable car in Sölden) perched atop a mountain, similar to Blofeld's Piz Gloria clinic in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Another shot shows a vintage red and black Rolls-Royce driving through the desert. This might be Franz Oberhauser's (Christoph Waltz) Rolls.

A Rolls-Royce driving through the (Moroccan?) desert. Will this be Oberhauser's car?

Oberhauser would not be the first Bond villain to drive an antique Rolls-Royce: most famously Auric Goldfinger drives a black and yellow Rolls-Royce Phantom III in Goldfinger (1964), and Kamal Khan drives a black 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II in Octopussy (1983). Other main characters driving a Rolls are Kerim Bay, Marc-Ange Draco, Kristatos, Zukovsky and Bond and Tibbett drive a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II in A Vew To A Kill.

Sam Smith's song made UK chart history by being the first Bond themesong to ever hit the number 1 spot in the UK charts. The previous highest-charting Bond themes were Adele's SkyFall and Duran Duran's View To A Kill, which both reached number two.

Comments

I not really pleased me this song for my taste. According to me it is too melodramatic and does not climate Bond. It should be more bubbly and not so sad. Something like A-Ha-The Living Daylights, Another way to die-Alicia Keys or do you know my name-Chris Cornell. In addition, songs in Bond films are instrumental, for example: Goldfinger, Diamonds are forever, or (great song) The Man With The Golden Gun. In my opinion, better alternatives are: Spectres - Spectre and RottViolent-Spectre.
