@welshboy78 - Dodgy stiching aside, the polo actually looks like it may be Charcoal rather than Navy, especially in the close up.

I don't know if they've shifted all production, however I've a few items of sunspel Knitware that state made in either England,Portugal or Turkey while the polos and t-shirts have no country of origin, so I belive they are still made in England. A quick google suggets that as the garments are all marked 'Sunspel England', the origin would have to be England unless otherwise marked on the label

Its def the Navy one mate!!!! Don't believe there is a charcoal version (wasn't when I ordered it) I actually ordered 3 of them, a navy, a black and one red. All in XL, all fitted diff and all poorly stitched!! I have 2 old black ones and 1 Navy, the material and stitching is a diff world!! I was told by a member on AJB that they were made in Turkey.

Maybe we should make Sunspel aware of this thread in a constructive way (I am not bashing them maliciously as I love their stuff) and really hope I can get my hands on the old Navy Riviera like my first one (in fact if they could guarantee they would be the same I would stock up on them)

I'd also like to add to what Welshboy has said ... I've got the Navy one & then within a couple of months I ordered a black one. I'm an XL and these were totally different quality in terms of both feel, finish & sizing. The black has shrunk considerably (despite following the same process to that of the Navy) and there's a "cheaper" feel to it. Very disappointed tbh and it appears that a few people on other sites have had similar experiences with shrinkage / polo sizing issues between the colour range.

Also noticed that they're now £70!! I got mine for under £40 delivered last year. With the issues I've had, I couldn't recommend a purchase unless the quality returned to the previous levels.

Reiss were selling a very, very similar polo to the Navy not long ago btw & I've always found their clothes to be of excellent quality

Good point regarding Reiss. I buy a lot of clothes there and agree with the quality point. Orlebar Brown (swimming trunks in Skyfall I think) also do some really nice polo shirts. They are a bit expensive but the fit was fantastic when I tried one on recently.

I think Sunspel would be receptive to the feedback and I would be curious to hear what they have to say. I have the early polos and think they are great. I would be disappointed if they had changes, as they were all about the 50's heritage material. Go for it Welshboy.

OK I will draft something up and email them with our concerns after all the original Polo was fantastic and I would love them to rectify this!

DRAFT LETTER TO SUNSPEL - what do you guys think? Polite and to the point? Hopefully they will look into this and rectify things

In late 2010 I purchased a Riviera Navy "Casino Royale" Polo shirt, the fit and screen accurate colour was fantastic and it became my favorite Polo shirt.

In late 2011 my Polo had been washed so many times due to my love of the shirt that I purchased another and was very disappointed with the colour, it was more a grey then my original dark Navy Blue shirt and the material did not feel as soft. I attach a photo of them side by side (bear in mind that the old one has actually faded, as you can see the colour is totally different)

As you may be aware your Sunspel Navy Riviera Polo is a classic Bond item due to it being screen used in Casino Royale, as a member of a large 007 forum there are quite a few people who have the same concerns, I thought I would link you to thie following online thread:

The thread outlines the members experiences and thoughts. The bottom line is that a fair few of us would love to order more of these shirts however they are now different, we would love it if Sunspel could take a look into this matter and correct the shirt back to its original colour and specifications.

Fully agree with the comments made by others above - it certainly reads well & makes the point politely & succinctly.

You could also add that members of another large forum base (I know this has been raised in the AJB one) have also raised very similar concerns. Whilst the disparity in colour is somewhat alarming, the sizing & shrinkage issues between colours should also of concern to them.
